June 11, 1932: Miss Marietta Fancher started the work June 11, meeting in  the Big Tree Public School basement

 
 

1937: Mrs. Jane Colwell donated a lot on Fairview Parkway for the purpose of building a church

 
                                             
 

1938: A one-room chapel was constructed with volunteer help from Houghton

 
                                             
 

1943: Sister Fancher went to be with her Lord and the work was carried on by students and teachers from

 
 

Houghton College. May 28, the members of the Big Tree Bible School Association voted to turn the work over to the Lockport Conference of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, renaming the work the Wesleyan Methodist Mission of Big Tree.

 

1948 - 50: Reverend Warren Hartway. Bus ministry was started with a bus rented from Cottrell Bus Service. Olson  Builders began an extensive remodeling project Remodeled building dedicated by Dr. George Failing

1951 - 52: Reverend Edgar Lewellen was called to pastor the work. The church purchased its own bus for the bus ministry

1952 - 59: Reverend Clair Day. First missionary convention was held in the fall of this year

1953: The church was organized as a Wesleyan Methodist Church with nine full members

1956: A seven-room parsonage was added to the church and a lot was purchased for parking.

1959 - 66: Reverend Theodore Pagett was called to pastor the work

1961: Walls were built in the basement to make classrooms and a new roof was put on the tower

1962: A new Lowery organ was donated to the church by Bertha Sager
